A Night at the Carnival opens to rave reviews

Mark and I got the show installed at Northwind.  My install was pretty involved with 2 slide shows and a video to set up, but all went well and things look great.  We had a wonderful reception with 150 to 200 people in attendance.  Yay!!!
One attendee wrote to a mutual friend "I thoroughly enjoyed my "night at the Carnival" without the traveling, parking, walking and lines.  I just immersed myself in the carnival.....the colors are still twirling in my head.  Bravo!!!!"

The Corridor Gallery, Seattle, WA 2013

The Corridor Gallery
Throughout 2013 Tashiro Kaplan's Corridor Gallery at
306 S. Washington St., Seattle,
exclusively showcased Artist Trust EDGE graduates.  Building management provided this space free for an entire year in order for EDGE Graduates to show their work.  Corridor Gallery is in the heart of the arts district in the same building as 4Culture, Gallery 110, SOIL, SHIFT, Gallery 103, Gallery 104 and many others.  First Thursday Artwalk in Seattle happens primarily in this building and visibility for our art was tremendous.  It was a fabulous opportunity for EDGE graduates to have the entire year to showcase their work in the Corridor gallery space.  We have a Facebook page of shows that have exhibited in throughout 2013  https://www.facebook.com/pages/EDGE-at-the-Corridor-Gallery/552116681484849

Curators of the Corridor Gallery were Dayton Knipher (14 months), Lisa Pollman (11 months), Malpina Chan (11 months), and Katy Krantz (9 months).   Guest curators were Akiko Masker, Lita Kenyon, Deborah Kapoor, Cathy Fields, Ellen Hochberg and Anna Macrae.  All curators with the exception of Lisa are EDGE graduates and volunteered their time and expertise in order to make each show possible.

Center on Contemporary Art - 2013 Shows

This marked the first showing of a piece from a series Mark Lubich and I have been developing this past year titled "A Night at the Carnival."  Now that it is July of 2014 we are ready to install this show at Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend, WA.  More on this show soon.  Here is my juried entry to "Collision"

Like a Rolling Stone - CoCA 24 Hour Marathon 2012

After showing two pieces in CoCA's "Show Us Yours" exhibit in October 2012, my proposal to be the first photographer to participate in their 24 Hour Marathon was accepted through a juried application process. This was their 20th marathon. The challenge for the artists was to create completed works of art in a very short 24 hour turnaround. Armed with my camera, computer, printer, and other supplies needed to create, produce, print and frame my pieces, I descended on Seattle Design Center and CoCA's gallery space for the long haul.  Below are the pieces I create for the event and sold at CoCA's auction the next night.  Many thanks to Ray Lemery who was my point person and trekked back and forth from SDC and Costco with test prints and ran errands for me as needed.  I felt it worked well and hope the CoCA will again consider having a photographer as part of the mix. Created the first two from an odd contraption parked on the railroad tracks.  Never did find out what it is used for.
