FIVE VIEWS and Lynnwood Exhibits are up!!!

Exhibit curated by Dayton K Knipher
Five Views
Bremerton WA
Collective Visions Gallery (CVG) in Bremerton now is showing an exhibit I curated featuring 4 other artists and myself.  "Five Views" showcases the art of Mark Lubich, Andrew Noel, Myra Gates, Steve Russell and 7 of my own pieces.

Artist reception; October 1st - during Bremerton's First Friday Artwalk and show will be up through the end of October.
Address: 331 Pacific Ave.  Bremerton WA - just two blocks from the ferry in downtown Bremerton
Hours: Tuesday - Sat 10-5 Sun 1 - 5

Here's what has been written about our show
"Five Views is an eclectic and exciting combination of photography and photographic art, fused glass, digital art and oil on canvas media to delight the eye and whet the palette for art.

Dayton K Knipher’s intriguing mirrored image photography and Myra Gates’ digital art trick the eye and beg closer examination, while Mark Lubich’s fused glass dazzles with mixed color and social commentary.

Photographer Steve Russell takes a plunge into the secret life of bugs and comes up with some amazing shots and Andrew Noel’s oils harken back to the impressionists but also bring a fresh and contemporary approach to landscapes of our region."

Hope you can join us in CVG’s October Boardroom exhibit and bask in each artist’s dynamic approach to both nature and human experience. All are unique, engaging and complimentary to the whole.

Artist Reception Saturday October 2nd from 11 to noon.

My piece titled "Intricate Fern" was juried in to this show.  Here's what I said about my piece:
"I love getting out in nature and photographing all her fascinating intricacies. I then use mirrored images of my original photo to create my abstract art. Intricate Fern shows such complex shadings of green, I felt it truly was a “study in green” as well as a gentle reminder of nature’s delicate balance and the need to preserve it."

February through May events

February News
The month of February "God's Eternal Flame" was at La Familia Gallery in their exhibit titled "Reinventing the Wheel" , http://www.lafamiliagallery.org/ . Met artist Kelly Clark at the artist reception on the 4th and later purchased a piece of hers titled "Our Lady of Quiet Tidings."

On February 20th I volunteered for the Artist Trust Auction at the Seattle Center, Fisher Pavillion. Lots of fun, great attendance and a very successful fundraiser for Artist Trust.

March News
In March I am exhibiting "God's Eternal Flame" in Art/Not Terminal Gallery in Seattle.
Also in March I branched out in my art by resurrecting a beautiful cherry wood rocking chair, probably from the 20's, for the nonprofit Northwest Furniture Bank. After gluing, filling, painting and re-upholstering - I donated my chair, titled "Resurrection Day" to The Chair Affair, NW Furniture Bank's charity auction, http://chairaffair.org/hairaffair.org/ I am grateful to Dave and June Scott for donating the print for my piece "The Cross of Christ" both on canvas for upholstering and on a t-shirt for me to wear the evening of the gala auction.

January Gallery Exhibits

The month of January, out of a field of 150 entrants, I had three of my photos chosen for the Yakima Light Project and recieved the Larson Gallery Guild Award for my photo "Light of Day - Shadows." In October, while showing my work in Ellensburg at Wineworks, I drove to Yakima on a quest for worthy light filled photos in preparation for entering this competiton, so I am thrilled that my extra effort for this photo shoot turned out so well.

The jurors stated "we looked at each image to determine the relative expression of "light", the technical quality, the artistic quality, and if it was successful in communicating what the Light Project wanted to represent about Yakima. http://www.yakimalightproject.org/ . Also googling my name will show links to news articles about the Yakima project and other newsworthy events in showing my art.

"Light of Day Shadows", "Light of Day -Fred Redmond Bridge", and "Reflected Architecture - Albers Mill" in Tacoma, WA are on display the month of January in the Peggy Lewis Gallery, Yakima, WA.

As we head into February, "God's Eternal Flame" was juried into the La Familia Gallery show titled, "Re-inventing the Wheel." and will be in Seattle's artwalk on Thursday, Feb. 4th This piece will be on exhibit the month of February at La Familia Gallery. http://www.lafamiliagallery.org/

In December I also culminated my year long residency as curator of Tacoma Art Place. I curated 13 shows with numerous Pacific Northwest artists and, in June, was proud to curate TAP Gallery in Tacoma's Metal Urge extravaganza. I finished my residency with a show of my newest pieces and shared the gallery with an up and coming fused glass artist, Mark Lubich.

Our show was a resounding success, and Mark and I are already planning further artistic collaborations in 2010.

Other shows these last few months include
Tacoma Community College, Tacoma, WA - annual juried show
Belltown Art Walk, Art/Not Terminal Gallery, Seattle, WA
Ellensburg Art Walk, Wineworks, Ellensburg, WA
Frank Tobey Jones, juried senior show, Tacoma, WA
